Complex and expansive layered pads of sound are imperiously interspersed with crystal drone, subtle distortion and field recordings garnered last year in France. In common with all of Maps and Diagrams output there is a clear impetus of motion in these imperceptible compositions. As the title knowingly proposes there is a persistent psychoacoustic focus on tone colour and musical accent here, which creates a contemporary auditory experience by concealing unwanted frequencies, causing other frequencies to become enhanced. Timbre presents short resonant sketches of ambient innovation that transport the listener along on a discordant sonic journey that is both distinct and perceptive.
